FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why are Sequin customers migrating to Stacksync?

Sequin is winding down its commercial offering. Stacksync is the closest functional replacement with broader scope: it covers the same Postgres-to-SaaS sync patterns Sequin pioneered, plus two-way sync, conflict resolution, and 200+ pre-built connectors out of the box. Most teams migrate in days rather than rebuilding pipelines from scratch. Stacksync also offers a dedicated migration fund and white-glove engineering support to remove the operational risk of the cutover.

How long does a Sequin to Stacksync migration take?

Typical Sequin migrations finish in 3 to 10 business days. Stacksync engineers handle the lift: mapping your existing Sequin syncs to Stacksync connectors, replaying historical data, validating end-to-end sync parity, and cutting over without downtime. Larger Sequin deployments with custom schemas or non-standard destinations take 2 to 4 weeks. We commit to a specific go-live date in the kickoff call so your team can plan downstream work with confidence.

Does Stacksync support the same Postgres-to-SaaS sync patterns as Sequin?

Yes — every pattern Sequin supports has a direct Stacksync equivalent: logical replication from Postgres into Salesforce, HubSpot, Stripe, and 200+ apps; CDC-based row-level sync; webhook fan-out on row changes; and view-based transformations. Stacksync extends Sequin by adding bidirectional sync (writes flowing back into Postgres), conflict resolution, dead-letter replay, and field-level mapping that does not require code.

Is migration cost included?

Yes — Stacksync runs a Sequin Migration Fund that covers professional services time for the migration end to end. You pay for Stacksync subscription only once go-live is validated. The fund includes: schema mapping, historical backfill, parallel-run verification, cutover orchestration, and 30 days of post-migration support. Talk to the Stacksync team about the fund during your demo to confirm your migration is eligible.

What happens to my existing Sequin webhooks and downstream consumers?

Stacksync replays the same webhook events your downstream consumers expect, with identical payload shapes where possible. For consumers that depend on Sequin-specific headers or routes, we provide a translation layer that maps Stacksync events to Sequin-compatible payloads during a transition window. Most teams retire the translation layer 30 to 60 days after go-live once downstream consumers are updated to consume native Stacksync events.

How is Stacksync different from Sequin technically?

Stacksync runs a managed control plane separate from your data plane, so credentials never leave your perimeter for self-hosted deployments. It supports both Postgres logical replication AND polling-based sources, plus bidirectional writes back to source — Sequin was source-to-destination only. Stacksync also includes a workflow engine that triggers code or webhooks on every change event, with retries, dead-letter queues, and full audit logs. The full sync graph is observable from a single dashboard.

Do I keep two-way sync after migrating?

Yes — and most teams gain two-way sync they did not have with Sequin. Stacksync is bidirectional by default: changes flow from Postgres into your CRM or SaaS app, and changes made in those apps flow back into Postgres with conflict resolution. Field-level mapping is configurable per direction so you can write some fields one-way and others two-way. This is the most common reason Sequin customers expand their Stacksync footprint after migration.
